Oscar & Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson signed copies of her inspirational memoir I Got This: How I Lost What Weighed Me Down and Found Myself at Barnes & Noble in New York City on Tuesday. She showed off her trim figure while posing for photos.

During a visit to the “Today” show, the Weight Watchers spokeswoman explained that she never thought her weight was a big deal until others made her take notice.

“I got a message from Mr. Clive [Davis] like, ‘She can’t be a supermodel like that.’ I was like, ‘What does that mean?’” she told Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford. “By that point I had already won an Oscar. I had already defined myself to a certain extent in the industry being a big girl, being plus size, going off talent alone. I still did not get it or understand, like what is this big deal about image?”

But her decision to lose the weight was personal. “I do not like being boxed in, I do not believe in limits, and I know that nobody knows your potential better than you,” she said.

Alicia Keys spent her holiday break getting some inspiration. The Grammy-winning singer and her husband Swizz Beatz checked out modern art pop artist Mr. Brainwash’s latest exhibit in Los Angeles over New Year’s weekend. Alicia posed under the colorful paint cans in the shape of a heart and admired the portrait of a young Michael Jackson made out of broken records.

“If you’re in the LA area you should absolutely go! It’s like a fantasy!” wrote Alicia on her Tumblr page. “Huge installations of everything u can imagine from oversized polaroid cameras to cars shoved into a hole. Huge 10 foot tall spray cans and Darth Vader made out of tires and one of my personal favorites, his crazy cool broken record series where iconic pictures are made out of broken records. Everyone will love this exhibit. All ages. It’s like a fun house!”

Kelly Rowland kicked off 2012 with a bang. The sexy singer commanded the stage (and a sizable check) at a private New Year’s Eve party for a Russian oil and gas magnate near Phuket, Thailand. Kelly served up her hits including “Motivation” and “Commander” for guests at the private villa.

The new year is already off to a great start for Kelly, who has been announced as the new face of TW Steel’s line of women’s oversized watches.

“It’s really exciting, especially when you naturally become a fan of the brand,” said Kelly at a press event. “It’s gonna be so sexy, so stylish, so next level.”

Woord?! Looks like Raphael Saadiq brought his own sunshine to the beach over New Year’s weekend. The soul man soaked up the sun on the shores of Miami with BET’s Rocsi Diaz! The two started their year by enjoying a relaxing weekend together. The “106 & Park” host showed off her bikini body as she splashed in the waves and lounged next to her friend.

Chris Brown celebrated the new year by hosting a bash at PURE in Las Vegas. The R&B heartthrob capped a successful 2011 with his girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who went blonde for the occasion. Breezy, looking sharp in a black suit, shades, and skinny tie, arrived around 11:30 p.m. and walked the red carpet with his crew. Inside, he held court with pal Kevin McCall, counting down to 2012 and performing his hits including “Beautiful People,” “Yeah 3X,” and new single “Strip.” With his girlfriend and close friends by his side, he partied into the early morning in VIP.

“I LOVE Team Breezy unconditionally!” tweeted Chris to his fans. “Goodbye 2011. Let 2012 bring as much peace positivity and happiness as possible!”

This past weekend Orisue had the opportunity to cosponsor DJ Dahi‘s record release party at the SpaceLUNA Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. The atmosphere was very lively as visitors walked in and checked out the toy themed gallery while listening to Val the Vandal cut and scratch tracks off of Dahi’s latest project TOYS. Many thanks goes out to The Cafeteria Line for putting together a great event.
