Mariah Carey and John Legend brought the snow to sunny Southern California over the weekend while shooting the festive video for “When Christmas Comes,” a remake of the holiday tune that originally appeared on Mariah’s 2010 album Merry Christmas II You.

ASCAP Rhythm & Soul celebrated the achievements of Monica at its 3rd Annual Women Behind the Music Series in New York City on Wednesday night. The industry event honors women in music including artists, songwriters, managers, attorneys, label executives, and music publishers. In addition to the R&B songstress, music industry executives Phillana Williams and Mona Scott-Young were recognized.

“Still overwhelmed by tonight, I’m blessed beyond measure to experience the things I have in work & life itself,” tweeted a grateful Monica, who is readying her album New Life for an early 2012 release.

Other attendees included Ne-Yo and Roc Nation signee Bridget Kelly.

Usher is cooking up some fire for his new album. The music superstar hit the studio with today’s top hitmakers including Pharrell, Jim Jonsin, Rico Love, and Diplo to lay down some new tracks for his seventh LP, due in 2012.

“Right now we’re just experimenting with different sounds,” said Rico, who penned “There Goes My Baby” off 2010’s Raymond v. Raymond. “My job is to make sure it stays classic. I don’t feel like Usher is just a Top 40 artist or just an R&B artist or just a rhythmic artist. I gotta make records that connect to all formats.”

One insider who heard the new material told Rap-Up, “It’s the most ridiculous music I’ve ever heard Jim and Rico make. Amazing!”

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without Mariah Carey. The festive diva teamed up with Justin Bieber to shoot a video for their remake of Mariah’s classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in New York City. The “SuperFestive!” version of their duet appears on Bieber’s holiday album Under the Mistletoe.

The superstars shut down Macy’s for the late-night shoot directed by Sanaa Hamri (“Crybaby”) and even got some early Christmas shopping done.

Roc and Roe’s mom modeled a glamorous look inspired by a vintage animated Christmas card as she shot scenes in a sleigh, while Bieber dressed for the season in a flannel shirt and red vest.

They were joined on set by Mariah’s puppy Jill E. Beans and “American Idol’s” Randy Jackson, who helped put the collaboration together.

Alicia Keys was the belle of the ball at the 8th Annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Thursday evening (Nov. 3). The Grammy-winning songstress, who co-founded the non-profit organization, shimmered as she posed with husband Swizz Beatz. The annual event benefits children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in India and Africa. Guests were treated to performances by Usher, will.i.am, Norah Jones, and Keys, who dueted with Jay Sean.

Keyshia Cole got real, “Paid In Full” for her 30th birthday celebration by bringing it in with an 80’s themed shin-dig. Her husband rented the Tavo Martini Loft in Cleveland, Ohio, over the weekend.
