This past Thursday (March 8th) the lovely Melanie Fiona brought her MF Life to NYC. The soulful songstress held an intimate industry listening party at the famed Electric Lady Studios, for her anticipated sophomore album The MF Life. As the live room was just becoming annoyingly hot Mel arrived and stepped right to the microphone, excited and a little nervous she addressed the media based crowd, describing her passion and emotion toward the LP.
The event continued on as the album was played in full length, only stopping for brief intervals where Mel wanted to share details and feelings about some of the songs. She went around the room with a purple heart stamp, similar to her tattoo, and put a stamp on everybody’s arm or neck, saying she was giving out love. Check out our photos and a brief preview of the songs below…

R&B was alive and well last night in NYC as the BET Music Matters Tour hit the stage of famed venue Irving Plaza. Estelle headlined the show which featured performances from Bridget Kelly, Luke James, Stacy Barthe and Elle Varner, and was hosted by Rocsi, Terrence J and Angie Martinez. The opening acts delivered as expected, showing any skeptic that R&B music has some amazing burgeoning talent.
Luke James thrilled once again with his incredible falsetto, and playboy charm. He had the ladies in the audience in the palm of his hand, and certainly gained a lot of new fans. Stacy Barthe brought her soothing voice, and soulful songs to the ears of the adorning audience. She too surely captured the attention of new listeners. Elle Varner followed with an energetic, playful and quirky set. She spoke back and forth with the crowd on numerous occasions, bringing them all in like it was their own personal show.
However, this night was a celebration for Estelle who just released of her anticipated third album All of Me . She hit the stage with her usual swag, but you could hear a genuine excitement in her voice as she addressed the crowd discussing the release of her album. She continued on running through her past hits, fan favorites and new singles.

With everyone abuzz about the upcoming Oscars and NBA All-Star game, Beyoncé was back on the scene yesterday afternoon, strolling with Blue Ivy, as she ran some errands, for her second public outing with B.I.C.. Bey was acting very motherly as she threw on the same outfit she wore on Saturday afternoon while having lunch with Jay and Blue. She was sure to cover up her beautiful baby girls face once again though, as it was very chilly in NYC. Blue isn’t quite two-months old yet, and it appears B is holding true to her lyric, “strong enough to bare them children, then get back to business”.
